Wichita Eagle Editoral Board Endorsements
Endorsements
The following are The Eagle editorial board's recommendations for Wichita mayor, Wichita City Council and the Wichita school board for the April 5 general election. We offer these recommendations as information to consider as you make up your own minds about the candidates.
District 4
Joshua Blick is the choice in this southwest Wichita district, because of his understanding of the issues and his experience serving on the district advisory board, the Board of Zoning Appeals and as his neighborhood association's president. The technical college admissions coordinator supports downtown redevelopment and continuing the affordable airfares program, and recognizes that building relationships in the community can help it create jobs and balance the budget. He views public safety as the last place to cut and sees a need to scrutinize everything that comes to the council to answer the question: "Is this best for Wichita?" He's already a leader in his neighborhood, and should make an effective council member

I've only known Joshua Blick since this election for City Council District
IV started. I was one of the 5 candidates running for the City Council
seat. In the four months I have been around Joshua, he has shown me that
he is very supportive of the citizens in the 4th District, concerned about
our economic issues and open to ideas and willing to listen to concerns
that people have about our city and the district. Joshua has volunteered
in the community and has served on several city boards and has a good
understanding of how the city operates. He is committed to working with
the people and improving the district.
Joshua and his wife Candace are active in the community. They are
homeowners, neighbors, parents, volunteers and have two children in the
public school system. Joshua understands that District IV needs a strong
voice but at the same time needs to be working with many individuals,
neighborhood groups and businesses to improve the city and District.
That is why I am placing my support behind Joshua Blick in becoming the
next City Council member to represent District IV.
Please, let your vote count on April 5th .

After seeing the candidates up close, I am voting for Joshua for three reasons, honesty, integrity, and experience. I am not speaking of experience in public service, though Joshua has considerable. I speak of real life experience, a 14 year marriage, raising two children, and more than 15 years of mundane things such as paying bills, holding a job, and being able to relate to the average person in these difficult times. I may not agree with Joshua on every issue, but I believe he is a man I can trust.

"I have worked with Josh through the Southwest Neighborhood Association and I have found him to be balanced in his thought process, dedicated to his neighborhood and easy to communicate with. I think he would represent the district well on the City Council."

"Joshua Blick is a shining example of citizen leadership, for 8 years Joshua has spent countless hours working to improve the lives of people throughout this city. The lessons learned have prepared him to join the City Council and lead our community to a brighter future. It is my opinion, Joshua is the only candidate qualified to serve the citizens of Wichita on our City Council."
